WILMER VALDERRAMA GIVES A SHOUT-OUT TO HIS EX DEMI LOVATO AS NETFLIX RELEASES HIS ANIMATED MOVIE

Back in 2015, a year before they broke up, the two collaborated on the animated movie Charming. The film, which the 30-year-old actor co-produced, was released in theaters overseas in 2018. On Friday, Jan. 8, the movie hit Netflix for North American audiences for the first time. Valderrama shared a trailer for the film on his Instagram page, praising Lovato, 28, and the rest of the cast, which includes Avril Lavigne, Ashley Tisdale, Nia Vardalos, Sia and John Cleese. 

"After years of production and love for this project I am thrilled to share that the untold story of Prince Charming (our first Latino Prince) @charmingmovie will be premiering today Friday January 8th!!! As an Original @netflix #Film," Valderrama wrote. "Thank you to our amazing team @officialwventertainment, and our incredible cast @ddlovato @avrillavigne @ashleytisdale @gem0816 @niavardalos @siamusic @johncleeseofficial for taking this leap of faith! In the film, Valderrama plays Prince Charming, a handsome heir who has never been in love and is ordered by his dad, the king, to find a wife before his 21st birthday. Naturally, he gets engaged to three princesses. But his actual love interest is a jewel thief named Lenore, played by Lovato.

This is the first animated and full-length film Valderrama and Lovato have ever worked on together. In 2015, the year Charmed was released abroad, the two co-starred and shared scenes in two episodes of Robert Rodriguez's From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series.

Valderrama and Lovato dated for almost six years before they split in 2016. He was there for her and visited her in the hospital after she suffered an overdose in 2018.

Last year, after Valderrama announced his engagement to model Amanda Pacheco, Lovato told Harper's Bazaar, "I'm really happy for him and I wish him nothing but the best, but we're not in each other's lives, haven't spoken in a long time."

"But I think I needed that because I needed to learn to be okay on my own," she continued. "When you get into a relationship with somebody at that young of an age and then you spend six years with somebody, you don't really get to learn about yourself."
